"God's Gift of Grace: New Creature Through Grace" by Bishop Brenda Perry

The following is taken from the message breached by Bishop Brenda K. Perry on Sunday, December 11

Bishop Brenda Perry
Text: 2 Corinthians 5:17
"God's Gift of Grace: New Creature Through Grace"

God reconciled us back to Himself, then graciously gave us gifts....that are to be used in the Kingdom, but some people choose not use them for the glory of God.

God drew us to Himself through grace...His drawing lead us to repentance. Before we could receive God's salvation, we had to first to repent. It was our faith and obedience...faith in Jesus Christ and that He would fill us with His spirit, and obedience to repentance, be baptized, and walking according to His Word.

If we are in Christ we have work to do to be like Christ. It does not happen over night, but we continue to strive.

In the fulfilling of God's purpose, we must humble ourselves. When we are in Christ, we are to longer live and practice the old habits of our past. There are behaviors and attitudes that we must give to God and allow Him to work those things out of us...if we are in a new creature through grace.

The grace of God will help us to walk in kindness. We need the grace of God to help our inward man...we have to ask God.

The enemy will try to weary us, to tire us out in order to discourage us. No matter how much praying, fasting, or reading the Word it seems like the enemy keep throwing punches. But the grace of God will step in and give us strength and victory.

The enemy may try to make us depend on our flesh, but naturally and spiritually we must depend on God.

1 Peter 2:3...we must help those who are being born into the Body of Christ. Those who are strong and rooted must take the time to feed those who are unlearned in the things of God. 2 Peter 3:18...as we grow in God we grow in His grace and knowledge. Growth brings us understanding.

When we correct people, our desire should be to bring them back to a merciful God. The grace of God brings us to maturity.

Breakthrough - New Life's 2016 Theme

"Breakthrough!" - 2016 Theme - Preached by Bishop Perry on Sunday, January 3, 2016

Text: Philippians 4:8, Corinthian 10:4

There is a breakthrough that we must walk in this year!

A Breakthrough - A defensive thrush that penetrate through a defensive line of warfare.
Breaking through the carnality and the flesh, and coming into a great knowledge of the things of God.

The enemy will have you in the house of God, lying to you. Your mind everywhere but on the things of God, the service, or the Word of God. But you have to breakthrough...cast down those imagination. It can be self, the love of self that we need to break away from. It can be your children, who have you wrapped up in worry and fear instead of trusting them to God. It can be fear, health, a need a for direction in life...there is a need for a breakthrough.

God has given you a purpose, and He wants you to know your purpose in life.

You have to go through...whatever you have to go through. Breakthrough does not mean you are free from problems, that you wont have trails. But it is knowing how to have a thanksgiving in your heart...to into the gates with a praise and worship.

What is the true issue that is hindering me from breaking through? Sometimes it's because we want to be in control. We must find out what is keeping us back...

A Greater Love!

A Greater Love - Preached by Bishop Perry on Sunday, February 15, 2015

Text: 1 Corinthians 13:13

Bishop Perry shared three points about God's love when she exhorted the saints on Sunday. First, God's love is eternal. Secondly, To love is a command of God. Lastly, as Christians we are to demonstrate God's love.

God desires for His children who represent Him to move to a "love mood". When we love as God loves, we love even when others have hurt or offended us. We don't just love those who treat us right. But we extend our love to the area of our hurts and disappointments.

On the other hand, we must also understand that God's love is not the same as tolerance. Tolerance is not a God word, but a secular idea that the society is trying to impose upon the church. Tolerance demands that we be excepting of all things, even things that go against our beliefs as Christian. However, God's love will speak out and tell a person when they are wrong. God's love corrects that which is wrong, it instructs. God's love causes us to extend long-suffering, patience and love when we correct and speak truth. But it does not allow us to be tolerant of sin.

John 15:12-13 commands believers and flowers of Christ to extend love to each other. If we love God we must walk in love towards one another. It is through our love for one another that the world we see the love of Christ.

Finally, we must be committed to God's love. When we are committed to live out and demonstrate God's love, His love will heal and restore. When we combine His love with His Word, it will restore all.

What Shall I Render? By Bishop Brenda Perry

February 26 of this year, I had the honor and privilege to speak at a Historical Black College, by the invitation of Tanisha Manning , Titus Manning, and cousins.  All of these young people attend Philander Smith College, in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Just a little history of the school:  It was started on November 7, 1877 as Walden Seminary.  Adeline Smith, of Oak Park, Illinois, had great interest in the work of the Church in the South, and was willing to donated $10,500 to Walden Seminary.  Because of this great blessing to the Seminary they desired to rename it after her deceased husband, Philander Smith-College. On March 3, 1881, the state chartered it as a four-year college.
There theme for their Annual Religious Emphasis Week of 2014 was “What shall I render to God, and Family and Community?  Psalm 116:12-14 reads, “What shall I render to the Lord for all His benefits toward me?  I will take up the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord.  I will pay my vows to the Lord now in the presence of all His people.”  May I say that the Lord blessed in the meeting that night with these young adults striving to better themselves in rendering to God and man.
We are now in the third month of the New Year. We are fast approaching Passover and Resurrection Sunday, as others may say Easter.  The question still holds fast with me, “What shall I render?”   If we would only take the time to meditate on the greatness of our God, and see what He renders unto us.  John 3:16 reads, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”  The Psalmist of Psalm 116 gives God thanks for delivering him from death. How great and awesome is our Lord Jesus Christ who has redeemed us from eternal death.  He willingly laid down His life that we may have life and that more abundantly.  This is a great time to render ourselves to reach the lost, bringing soul to Jesus Christ.
The question remains, “What shall l render back to God, family and community.  The word “render” means to go back, to return, bring back, reestablish and to restore.   Jesus Christ rendered His life as the perfect sacrifice, so we can be reconciled back to the Father.  The Psalmist gave much praise and thanksgiving unto the Lord, and that he would pay his vow in the presence of others.  Most likely he had made vows privately unto God when he was on his sick bed.  Many times the vows we make are in our distress, or troublesome time.  When the Lord delivered him, and raised him up from his bed of affliction, he wanted to make known his vows to the public.  It was a custom in doing this to let the people know how great and awesome their God is.  A few verses down it states, “How precious is the saint that dies in the Lord”, meaning when the Lord takes you home with Him there a purpose and meaning.
Our heart’s desire should be, everyday of the year, to rise and give God praise and true worship.  The question again is “What I can render unto the Lord, my family and community?”  First, I could say no matter what has transpired in my life, good or bad, I forever want to keep a praise of thanksgiving upon my lips.  There is nothing more distasteful than when things go wrong in my life and I began to mummer and complain how bad and dreadful things are.  When people see us they need to see more of Christ, and the Word of God being manifested in our lives.   What else?  Integrity and honesty, faithfulness, forgiveness, the true love of Christ, the fruit of the Spirit, and list can go on and on.
I would like to say this before I continue.  We have so many times made vows to the Lord and honestly forgot that we made them, or vows just did not have the want to or strength to. I say to all of us to repent and ask God to forgive us of our sin.  In the book Ecclesiastes 5:1-7 it express the sincerity of vows made to God.  “Better not to vow than to vow and not pay.”  We do not need to bargain with God when we are in distress or in a low time.  God is so faithful to deliver and help us in the time of need.

Moving back into my thought, there is so much that I can give back to God, family and community as we allow the Holy Spirit to lead and help us to do God’s will.  The Holy Spirit will aid and empower us to be that vessel to give back to our family and community. Remember, it’s not always those we grew up with or lived around, it is those whom the Lord directs or place in our path way.  God has given us all the tools we need.  My prayer is that God grant us the holy boldness to do that what we vowed.  Let’s rise and act on the vows we have made, so not to be found to be a lire.
